This Christmas I am going to ask Santa for more time. This would include more time in the day, more time to create, more time with family & friends and more waking hours in the day. For those who know me well more waking hours means I would only sleep for about an hour per night so maybe that is a bit much to ask for. During this busy holiday season when I am fretting over those perfect presents, shopping at 10 pm to avoid the holiday crowds, volunteering for every event at school, trying to get the house ready for holiday festivities, design team deadlines for CHA, and putting up those decorations I admit I am feeling a bit over-whelmed.  Every time I turn around I see that shopping days are dwindling.  In turn I realize that time is precious.  Taking a moment to slow down, enjoying the moment is harder to do.  Tomorrow I am going to dinner with my dear friends.  I hope at that moment we can take a moment to be thankful for the 24 hours in a day that we have.    But if Santa is listening I could use a few more hours and a few more things from Toys R Us.

THE GIFT OF TIME

Imagine there is a bank which credits your account each morning with
$86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep
no cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount
you had failed to use during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course! Well, everyone
has Such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with
86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you
have failed to invest to good purpose.

It carries over no balance.
It allows no overdraft.
Each day it opens a new account for you.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours.

There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow". You
must live in the present on today’s deposits. Invest it so as to get from
it the utmost in health, happiness and success!

The clock is running. Make the most of today.

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who has failed a grade.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who has given birth to a
premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of ONE DAY, ask a daily wage laborer who has kids to
feed.

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who has missed the train.
THE GIFT OF TIME
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who has avoided an
accident.

To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who has won a
silver medal in the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because you
shared it with someone special, special enough to have your time . . .

And remember time waits for no one . . .

Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That’s why it’s called the present!
