Just because you are away from your studio that is no reason to stop the creative flow. I have over the years packed a travel art kit that allows me still feel creative. I also have been able to confine it to a small space like on an airplane or even my lap.

One thing about me is I am a doodler. And I am at my worse when I am in a class or lecture situation and am forced to stay still. I find that doodling and drawing keeps me focused and listening. I was like that all the way through school and if I don’t do that I lose focus and/or fall asleep. My travel art journaling has really evolved.

The journal I use is a small 3 X 5 moleskin watercolor journal. This is only an idea journal where I keep some raw ideas and just freely try new techniques. It is not to create a masterpiece but to just keep that creative mojo going.

Some of my travel tools include: adhesive runner, journaling pens, small water colors, Faber Castell Gelatos, water brush, paper towel, paint brushes, spray bottle and of course my favorite charcoal pencils! Have to have those! I have shared a photo of some of my travel kit. Also attached are some of my pages.

So the next time you are away…take your studio on the road. I would love to hear any travel art tips anyone has!
