This is what I know for sure……..when I move my rear I feel better!  Yep, it’s as simple as that.  However, the getting up to actually move  my rear is the hard part.  That time in the morning when the cool breeze hits my face in bed and the cool sheets feel good pulled up.  No WAY do I want to move my rear.  I will lay in bed and talk myself out of it.  Those numerous sports practices where it is so simple to pull up a chair and take a load off…no way do I want to move my Rear!  When I am at the beach basking in the glory of the sun……NOPE, do not want to move my rear.  In the evening when my day is done and a nice glass of wine is calling my name…no WAY do I want to MOVE MY REAR!  There are a million and one reasons not to move my rear but the one that matters most is that I can move it and therefore I am going to make the most of it.

So why move it?  A simple walk can clear the brain, calm your mind, flex those muscles, and be your own personal therapy.  When you do it with a friend the taking and walking just makes the miles fly by.  When your kids have practices it makes that time go faster too.  It is a great way to catch up as a couple when the days are busy with work, kids and home. and for those creative souls…………..IT SPARKS CREATIVITY!

For me personally, it does all that and more.  I just feel better.  I set personal goals.  I share those goals with others and those excuses I come to know and love I try to fend those off.  I share that time and those miles.  So to those who have not joined me yet on MapMyWalk…add me as a friend.  I see your goals, that whistle blows and it motivates me.  Here is what my August looks like so far toward my goal of 50 miles.

August

over 40 miles walked!  It just takes a step or two but those first few steps are the hardest.

But from those walks come smiles and more…….

To those friends who have joined me on the miles I THANK YOU.  I thank you for motivating me to be better, walk further and be kindred souls.  For those who listened to me gripe, complain or just air it out…….thank you.  For the laughs, the sarcasm, and the sweat……..THANK YOU.  For those walks I took solo……I needed the time to be with me.  I needed to push myself.

So who is with me?  If you physically want to walk just drop me a text.   Or friend me on MapMyWalk but time to get up and MOVE YOUR REAR!

Happiness is allowing yourself to be perfectly OK with “what is,” rather than wishing for and worrying about “what is not.”  “What is” is what’s supposed to be, or it would not be.  The rest is just you, arguing with life.  Think about that for a minute.  This means your suffering only ever occurs when you resist how things are.  You cannot control everything that happens to you; you can only control the way you respond to what happens.  In your response is your power.”
