As a mom you juggle, juggle and then juggle some more. Right now I call my life a big performance of spinning plates. I spin one and then on to the next, the next and so on trying to keep them all spinning. The great thing is I love each and every one of the activities that those plates represent. There is a HUGE difference when you are spinning those plates and they are things you don't want in your life or you feel pressured to do them.
I call these plates my work, my kids, my art, my household. All are important and sometimes you just cannot do everything or be in two places at a time. Then that dreaded guilt steps in and you have to prioritize. One of those has been balancing travel soccer with travel basketball and rec soccer. It takes us to places far outside our little town and sometimes it is just not possible for me to do that along with the sports of the other two.
After talking to many moms, this is just life with three kiddos. All want my time and all deserve it. So when I can I try to be there for them. This includes catching any and all of Tyler's games I can!
I love wathcing his games. There is so much skill at this level! They play hard.
The next time that nasty guilt steps in I am going to go easy on myself…..remember they are ok there without me and remember that I do the best I can with the knowledge I have on hand.
Hug those kids of yours extra tight. Our small community is morning the loss of a teenager and while you are spinning a plate as a parent our kids are spinning plates of their own. May they always know that those plates can fall and nothing is more precious than your own gift of life. I know I would not have it any other way with my kids.
Being a mom is not easy…..darn those plates are slowing down! Time to go spin a few more!
"Don’t be normal. Sadly, normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you financed, in order to get to the job that you don’t really like, but that you need, to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it."
