Let’s create a pretty watercolor flower bouquet! Sometimes when I create, I have no plan and am just putting paintbrush to paper, letting my creativity flow how it wants to. For this tutorial, I am showing you how to recreate these flowers using watercolor paint and pens.

Start by taping off your art journal page with painter’s tape and misting your watercolor paint palette with water.

Then, start painting your flower petals! When I create my petals, I am literally just making a line with my paintbrush and it creates a little petal. I’ll also add some yellow flower centers and some color to my background too. You can really just add whatever colors you would like to your background because we will define the shapes more when we add the pen work. Dry with a heat tool.

Next, I will use Molotow Permanent Markers to add my detail lines. I am starting with a 0.5 and outlining my flower petals and then I’ll use a thicker point and outline again.

Then, I will doodle out some flowers in the background as well as some leaves and texture to my flower centers.

Then, I will take a Posca paint pen in white and add some more lines around my flower petals and circles in my flower centers. I’ll also take a darker green shade of watercolor paint and fill in my background to define those leaves a little more.

Finally, I am going to add some paint splatters. I am going to water down some black acrylic paint, dip a fan brush in, and tap my brush above my page. Dry with a heat tool.
