We’re working with a “wet on wet” technique to create a dreamy, watercolor background filled with shades of green and gold. From there, we’ll sketch out beautiful flowers using fine and thick Sharpie markers, adding texture and detail to bring them to life. With pops of Extreme Sheen 24K Gold acrylic paint and fun splatter effects in dark blue and gold, you’ll add dimension and personality to your page!

Prep your art journal page by taping off the edges with painter’s tape. Mist your watercolor palette and your page with water because we’ll be working “wet on wet” for this art piece.

Start by adding blobs of color to your background – I am using different shades of green and some gold colors. Dry with a heat tool.

Take an ultra-fine Sharpie and start sketching out your flowers and stems. Grab a thicker Sharpie marker and darken up different lines on your flowers. Add dots and texture to your flower centers and detail lines to the petals.

Add dark green watercolor paint to the negative space in your background to make your flowers pop. Dry with a heat tool.

Use a liner brush with Extreme Sheen: 24K Gold acrylic paint to add detail lines to your flower petals. I’ll also use white acrylic paint to add in my flower stems and more detail lines on the petals.

I’ll take a fan brush, dip it into some dark blue watercolor paint, and tap it above my page to create a splatter effect around my flower centers. I’ll do the same thing with my gold acrylic paint.

Dry with a heat tool, remove the painter’s tape, and enjoy!
