I have a no excuses approach to my art. Which means I don’t always have the tools I want, the complete set of markers, etc. I want to challenge myself in my idea art journal. That is the reason for it. The concepts are not always good ones but as long as I enjoy the process that is what matters. This past week I took that same approach to sea. I limited myself to one Viewtainer of supplies and my art journal. But no one can deny that letting things go when you are on the ocean is perfection.
The view in itself was artwork
I was surrounded by the sound of the ocean, the motion of the swell and no phones, computers, etc. so what better place then to take a creative break. The pages are nothing to write home about……it was about the break I took for myself.
Here is what I had aboard with me.
- Fude Ball Black Pen
- 3B Charcoal Pencil
- Sharpie Twin Tip
- DecoArt Black Acrylic Marker
- Uniball Signo White
- Koi Water Brush #6 and #8
- Viewtainer
- Windsor Newton Watercolor Set
- Canson Art Journal 7″ X 10″
It was a nice break from the smell of fish, stinky men all in the afternoon sun. You gotta love that! Find those creative breaks for yourself. No excuses. You may surprise yourself and when you look back at that page you will return to that place of peace and creative calm. ♥
Life passes by so fast…..and often we don’t recognize life-altering moments until long after they have happened. Often we let things pass by with our faces glued to screens and our minds on the future or on the past. Take some time, beautiful friend, to create a snapshot in your mind that you will be able to recall later with vivid detail. Stop a few times each day and think about the way things look, the way things smell, the way things sound, and the way things feel. Look at who you are with and where you are standing…think about the circumstances that brought you to exactly where you are in that moment….then tell yourself that you will never forget this moment….because it will never happen again in just that way. If we all could take a few moments each day to do this…..even if only once a day….life would feel so full, so rich, so beautiful….we would feel at peace and so grateful. This is what it means to “live in the moment” or to “be present”. ~ Brave Girls
Looks wonderful! I’m planning to move to San Diego in about a year and a half when my daughter graduates high school. I will be glad to leave the Phoenix heat. Thanks for the inspiration!
It is lovely carmen and I love so much about it. I am from the Midwest and appreciate it!
