I am excited to share a whole new opportunity and show for me…the Creative Painting Show in Las Vegas, NV!  I had no idea what to expect and had an open mind.  I had the pleasure of working with the famous Doxie Keller and Sandy Aubuchon, two great ladies….

The Decorative Painting world was new to me and I was not sure how well received my “style” of painting would be received. I had the pleasure of demonstrating the DecoArt Mixed Media line which is new to them too!  I had the whole show to demo, paint and just talk to people about what I love. It was a chance to get to know new people AND was surprised to have so many MMM followers come up!  This is a different crowd but a passionate bunch who love to paint.  I learned from them about patterns and their style. From me, they learned that my patterns are contained in my brain, to let it go and see where the painting takes them.  For some that was not such a great idea but for so many it was a whole new thought process to embrace. I truly enjoyed the opportunity to speak to so many and work with a great bunch of people from DecoArt!  I do love my job.

Here are some photos from the show!  I only had my phone on hand because I was so busy most of the time.  These shows take a lot of work from start to finish but I make sure to get in some down time too!  I had the pleasure to meet so many who follow me on Facebook and Mixed Media Monday!  Who knew there was such an audience out there who get it….get me!  Who tune in.  One lady, Sylvia came in from Boston with her husband for a trade show….Then this sweet lady came over out of breath with such a cute story.  The first time she told it she never took a breath.  She is moving from Seattle to Las Vegas and happened to be in town for the closing on her house and saw that I was in town. She trekked over via shuttle and walked all the way just to meet me!  I was humbled (just ask about my silly 44 year old tears)…..They get it!

I took the opportunity to learn, listen and get to know Doxie.  She is a sweet, smart lady and I hope at her age I have the same spitfire spirit. It was a true honor to hear she liked my artwork. It was her idea to get a table to put all my work which she said was so “eye catching”…I think she means it screams and glows in the dark. But the response was beyond anything I imagined!  (now I have a goal to paint WITH her!…can you imagine that collaboration!)

The DecoArt Booth was busy the whole time!

So I left the show with new friends, feeling embraced and believing in this path.  Plus doing what  your love does make a difference.  I also got to meet so many in the industry who I had no idea I would ever have opportunity.  Tracy Moreau and Donna Dewberry!

So many more got photos with me that hopefully they tag me in!  All I needed to do was raise Bob Ross from the dead and that would have capped the bucket list!  (seriously he is not dead!)

Thanks DecoArt for the opportunity.  Watch out NAMTA and the Hardware Show!  In the meantime happy to be Home Sweet Home.  The great thing about returning home is my feet land right on the ground and I am just Mom, Wife and Taxi…perfection.

Finding peace and happiness in life does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, no challenges, and no hard work.  It means to be in the midst of thosethings while remaining calm in your heart.  It’s about letting go of the pictures in your head about how things were “supposed to be.”  Honestly, life is too short to spend at war with yourself.  The biggest disappointments in our lives are often the result of misplaced expectations.  Letting go of needless expectations is your first step to happiness.  Come from a mindset of peace and acceptance, and you can deal with almost anything and grow beyond it.”
