I’m painting a festive St. Patrick’s Day watercolor art journal page with several shamrocks and all of the green and blue watercolor paint I can find. This one is super simple to create for the holiday and is lots of fun. No painting experience is required and only minimal supplies!
I’m starting off by adding painter’s tape to the edge of my art journal page. Then, I am grabbing a wooden shamrock that I have and just outlining a few onto my page.
Add water to each of your shamrocks. Then, add a mixture of different green and blue watercolor paints and let the water blend with your paint. Let dry or dry with a heat gun.
Mist your page with some water (if your paint starts to run, that’s okay), and then add some blue watercolor paint to your page in that negative space. Let dry or dry with a heat gun.
Grab your permanent pen and just outline those shamrocks. Next, I’m going to take Archival Ink in Mermaid Lagoon and Black Soot and a stencil brush and just add some depth to my page – in my blue background and my edges. Then, I’ll take a dotted stamp and add a little bit of a textured background with that teal color. I’ll also add a few circle stamps as well. I’ll also take a little bit of white acrylic paint and add some detail lines to my shamrocks.
This was so easy and fun to create! All you need is your watercolor, some ink pads, and stamps to create this St. Patrick’s Day art journal page.
