When Stampendous asked me to do a project to fit their “Feeling Distressed?” theme it was good timing. Ok, feeling a bit of creative distress and lack of mojo and it was time to dig deep into my “dark side”. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. So I grabbed my DecoArt Media and Stampendous Andy Skinner Stamps and broke those babies in (don’t you dare tell him I used them!)! I also made his famous “dirty wash” which he features HERE. My next project is I going to feature my own “happy bright wash” I may need it after this piece LOL. Here is my 8 X 10 Canvas Panel project:
MATERIALS LIST:
- DecoArt Media Gesso (White)
- DecoArt Media Ultra Matte Varnish
- DecoArt Media Matte Medium
- DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics (Paynes Grey, Prussian Blue Hue, Cobalt Teal Hue, Quinacridone Gold and Carbon Black)
- Stampendous Stamps (Andy Skinner Industrial Set, Nature Set, and Steampunk Set)
- 8 X 10 Canvas Panel
- Deli Paper
- Ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black and Cocoa)
I did a fun time lapse of my creative process HERE……..
Thanks Stampendous for asking me to be part of this fun! I can feel the flowers just beaming to come out!
The secret of everyday happiness is not in always doing what one likes, but in mindfully liking what one does. Be present with each step, do your very best, and let go of the rest. There is always, always, always some reason to be grateful and something interesting to learn along the way.”
Very cool!
Thanks Jean!
Oh yes – such a great idea – make us instructions for a happy bright wash – ehehhe!!! LOVE it! DO it!
This was so different for you but it is really wonderful. You can just do anything you set your mind to do Tracy and that’s what I love about you. It has done my heart good to watch you step forward time and time again – out of your comfort zone – to “fly” further. Sooooooooooooo proud of you. And this was another SUPER FINE example of your abilities.
Thanks bunches for the really great video tutorial too. Stampendous should be really thrilled with all you have done – for sure! j.
I try to keep it real and boy art is a struggle sometimes! (as is life) Wait until you see the Halloween project I post later this week as I don’t do Halloween LOL ♥ More videos to come too!
Check you out Grunge Master!! 😉

Thanks so much!!
I adore this and thanks for the link (from YouTube) on where to get the list of products. I’ve already ordered Andy’s stamps from Amazon, but having a bit of trouble finding all the DecoArt media line – but I will. I love a challenge. 🙂
you are so welcome Laine. More to come and soon! Glad you are enjoying!
wow.. this is gorgeous.
thanks!
DELIGHTFULLY distressed piece Tracy – LOVE IT ALL!!!
THANK YOU for sharing your video – it was a PLEASURE to watch you in action!!!
I was wondering, how long did it “really” take to create it? I struggle with distressing and think maybe I am too heavy handed, trying to do too much, too fast and need to be more patient?
Tracy from Victoria, Australia
Hi Tracy, that probably took a minimum of 2 hours total (not including drying time). The crackle layer needs more time to dry. I am so glad you enjoyed seeing the creative process. I sped up the time lapse video 8 times and removed the extra dry time stuff. Patience is not my virtue and yous should see me with a heat gun lol!
Thank You Tracy 🙂
… I’m not very patient either!
Simply beautiful! And a wonderful video too!
thanks!
LOVE your work and this piece is absolutely scrumptious!!! LOVE the darker colors and the saying is awesome!!! TFS!
Thanks Barb!
Some days you feel bright and cheerful, other days you want to left alone to brood. I think both pieces are wonderful. The colors are not too dark – there is still a ray of brightness. The sentiment is great.
Love both pieces – I’d be happy with either of them.
thanks for sharing.
