Create a captivating art journal page with white flowers against a dark background! Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out, this project is perfect for exploring bold contrasts and vibrant colors. Let’s dive in and create something truly beautiful together!
Prep your art journal by taping off the edges of your page with Painter’s Tape. Mist your watercolor palette with water.
I will start adding color to my background using a watercolor paintbrush. I’m using lots of greens and blues – going as dark as possible. Dry with a heat tool.
Next, I’ll use a liner brush with white acrylic paint to create my flowers. I’ll also use a white Posca Pen to add details and texture to my flower petals.
Then, I’ll add dark blue watercolor paint to fill in all of the negative space in the background.
I’ll grab my Circle Duos Stencil and use a small stencil brush to add white acrylic paint dots to my flower centers. I’ll add in some smaller dots using the end of my paintbrush too. I’ll also add some iridescent glitter to each flower center too. Dry with a heat tool.
Take a wet fan brush, dip it into your white acrylic paint, and tap it above the page to create a splatter effect on your art piece. Dry again.
Finally, I’ll paint on a few hearts with Pyrrole Red acrylic paint. Remove your painter’s tape and enjoy!
