There is something truly special about connection — whether it’s in person or virtual. Gathering with like-minded souls to talk about our passions like art, books, creativity, and life creates a space that feels both inspiring and comforting.
Our very first Book Club meeting was a wonderful success! We met on Monday, January 12 at Noon EST, and I’ll be honest — I picked that time completely at random because this was actually my first book club I have ever attended. And I couldn’t have imagined a better first experience.
We gathered on Zoom and discussed Becoming an Artist by Scott Christian Sava, and the conversation flowed so naturally between thoughtful reflections and lots of laughter. It felt easy, real, and joyful.

I came prepared with discussion talking points to guide us along the way, but like any good gathering, the conversation had a life of its own — and I loved every moment of it.

Looking Ahead to Our Next Book
Our next book is:
Your Brain on Art by Susan Magsamen

I also have a PDF with our discussion points that you can download and use to prepare, reflect, or journal along with us. I promise I will try to stay on topic… but I also promise we will keep the laughter going.

Why This Meant So Much
One of our members, Lissa, shared:
“When I got off the Zoom call, I felt so happy.”
And that is exactly how I felt too. I felt connected. I felt inspired. And I felt grateful for the safe, open space we created together. Our first meeting concluded with this quote Jennine shared with us. This resonated with us all:
“Why do we hear praise as a whisper and criticism as thunder?” Robert Wicks
Let’s Choose Our Next Time Together
We will absolutely be doing this again on Zoom! I’ll be putting out a few polls to see what works best: Afternoon or Evening? I personally loved spending my lunch break with you all… but I do admit, a nice glass of wine would have been pretty perfect too. 🍷 Please leave a comment and share your thoughts on timing.
And since this is my very first book club journey, I am completely open to your ideas, suggestions, and feedback. I truly want this to be something we shape together.
Thank you for showing up, sharing your hearts, and making this first gathering so special. I already can’t wait for the next one. 💛📚🎨
Afternoon works great I ordered 2nd book
I would love to be a part of this, but last I still work full-time so evening would be best for me
Thanks Dawn I am keeping that in mind and totally get it!!
Early evening would work better for me. Like 4 or 5 PT. Any night except Wednesday or Thursday. That’s just me and I know there’s a lot of people out there. I’m just grateful I can watch the tutorials on replay.
Late afternoons would probably work better for people who work, etc. Would you be willing to do 2 zooms for each book? Thinking maybe late afternoons with 1 being during week and the other on a weekend. Just a thought. Thanks for everything you do! It is much appreciated.
Thanks Tracey for the suggestion. I wish I could do 2 of them but timing wise I want to make sure I keep the focus on creating. This makes me think I can mix it up a bit 🙂
Anytime after 1130 am works for me, if they are going to be on Mondays!
thanks! I am liking that lunch time 🙂
I’m interested in future books & discussions. I just downloaded the next book Your Brain on Art. Looking forward to reading it. Thanks
Could you do a weekend? Saturday maybe? Saturday afternoon or evening? Somehow I had the wrong time finished today snd I still work sporadically during the week. Did/will you record the book discussion?
Hi Deb – sorry we did not record it. I would love to consider a weekend but I try to reserve that for family time. We can consider recording them in the future 🙂
I would prefer any day except Monday. The time is fine.
Any day works. Noon Eastern is great.
great! I am liking that time too
