Let’s paint some tropical watercolor flowers! Grab your paint supplies, some mixed media or watercolor paper, and your paintbrush – and let’s create. I am going to show you how to paint these bright and colorful flowers as well as how to add details and shading to bring your art to life.
Prep your art project by spraying your watercolor palette with water and taping off the edges of your paper with painter’s tape.
Grab a large paintbrush and wet down your entire paper. Then, start adding dabs of color and let the water blend them around. I am adding lots of yellow, pink, red, orange, and green. Dry with a heat tool.
Grab a pen or ultra-fine Sharpie and let’s add some details! Look for the flowers in your colors – sketch on petals, dots, texture, and more to create your floral art piece. Add details and sketching around the flower centers. Doodle on your leaves throughout the green area. I’ll also take a Sharpie brush pen and go back in and add some more bold lines.
Grab some dark green watercolor paint and fill in any background spots to create contrast against your flowers and leaves. Dry with a heat tool. Remove your painter’s tape and enjoy!
