I am creating an autumn-inspired watercolor art journal page with two of my new favorite watercolor paint palettes – Terrain and Shimmering Lights. I absolutely love how the shimmer looks with these beautiful fall colors. I’m going to show you how to paint and add details to create this art piece in your own journal.

Prep your art journal page by taping off the edges with painter’s tape. Then, mist your watecolor palette down with water.

Then, start painting of leaf shapes – experient with colors and use whatever you would like! I’m going with lots of greens and oranges. I’ll also add shimmery paint to each leaf to give them some shine! Then, I’ll take a Champagne color and add that to my background. Dry with a heat tool.

Next, I’ll take a liner brush and Decoart Media Carbon Black paint to outline my leaves and give them lots of detail lines. Dry with a heat tool.

Next, I’ll take some white watercolor paint (I’m using the Chandelier color in the Shimmering Lights set) and add some white detail lines to my leaves.

I’m going to grab a brown stamp pad and a stencil brush and add some color to my art journal page edges and around some of the leaves. Dry with a heat tool.

Spray it with DecoArt Sealer/Finisher Matte and dry again. Remove your painter’s tape and enjoy!
