Let’s create a watercolor art piece using a “wet-on-wet” technique. What does this mean? Using wet watercolor paper with wet watercolor paints to let the colors do their thing and blend beautifully! This is a great way to use watercolor paints and other materials if you are a beginner just getting started in the art journaling world.

First, tape off the edges of your paper with painter’s tape. Then, wet your watercolor paper and spray your watercolor paint with water.

Next, we will add color to our paper. I am going to paint a few flowers, so I’ll add some pinks oranges, and yellows to create these blobs of colors. Add some black to the centers too. The water will take your color and spread it. I’ll also add some green to the rest of my white space. Dry with a heat tool.

Next, take a Molotow Blackliner pen and outline your flower petals and flower centers. Then, start adding some texture with dots in your flower centers and detail lines in your petals.
I’m going to take a Ranger Black Archival ink pad and a stencil brush and add some black ink to my flower centers and the edges of my page too. I’ll also take the end of my paintbrush, dip it in some white acrylic paint, and add some white dots to my yellow flower center.

Next, I’ll add some black and white paint splatters. Water down some black paint and white paint, drip a fan brush into your paint, and tap it above your page to create splatters. Dry with a heat tool.

Remove your painter’s tape and enjoy your beautiful art piece!
