Learn how to paint this fun mixed-media flower and sunshine art piece! We’ll be using lots of different techniques today including watercolor paint, acrylic paint, stamps, stencils, and more. I’ll show you how to paint this simple and fun art journal page from start to finish. Plus, it’s an inspirational reminder to always be happy, be bright, and be you!

Prep your work area by misting your watercolor paint palette with water and taping off the edges of your paper with painter’s tape.

In the top right corner, paint a yellow sun. Dry it with a heat tool. Then, add water to the rest of your page with your paintbrush and add different watercolors like blues and greens, letting the colors blend. Dry with a heat tool again.

I am using drywall tape with lots of circles as a stencil today! Place it onto your art, take a stencil brush and some white acrylic paint, and lightly dab some paint through the stencil. This creates such a fun texture to the background! I’ll also grab a bubble stencil and add some circles with some light green paint.

Next, I’ll take some white gesso and paint on some flowers. Then, I’ll take Primary Magenta acrylic paint to paint the petals and yellow for my flower centers. I’ll paint on some green stems and leaves too.

I’m going to work on the sun and dab on some golden yellow and red acrylic paint to give it some color. I’ll also dab some around the flower centers too.

I’ll use a liner brush to add some yellow lines coming off of my sun. I’ll take some black acrylic paint and outline my flower petals, stems, and leaves. Dry with a heat tool.

I’m going to use my Dare 2b Artzy Totally Tracy TT18024 stamp that says “be happy, be bright, be you” and a black ink pad and stamp that right onto my sun. Dry with a heat tool.

Let’s add some grass! I’m using an old gift card, dipping it in some green paint, and dabbing on some grass. Dry with a heat tool. Finally, I’ll take DuraClear (Satin) and apply a layer to my art jounrnal page to seal my piece. Remove the painter’s tape then I’ll add a black border with a Posca paint pen.
