I am creating a pretty nighttime scene with a starry night background and some colorful blooms. I’m excited to take you through the process of creating a dreamy and magical evening scene with these colorful daisies. This one is great for beginners!

Prep your art journal page by taping off the edges with painter’s tape. Spray down your watercolor palette with water. I will use a Molotow Blackliner pen to sketch out three flowers.

I will use lots of shades of blue, green, and purple from the Current watercolor palette and Terrain palette to create a nighttime background. Dry with a heat tool.

I’m going to add water to each flower petal and then add drops of color, letting the water blend it. I’m adding golden yellow to each flower center and then one of my flower’s petals. I’ll also add some orange to that flower. My second flower will stay white with some purple and my third flower will be red. Dry with a heat tool.

Next, I’ll use various sizes of my Molotow Blackliner pens to outline my flower petals, add detail lines to the petals, and add dots around the flower centers for texture. I’ll also doodle the flower stems and leaves.

I’ll use Titanium White acrylic paint and a liner brush to paint detail lines on my petals and leaves. Next, I’ll add a splatter effect with Carbon Black acrylic paint mixed with water. Dip a fan brush into your mixture and tap it above the page. I’ll do the same thing with the white paint to create a starry night effect.

Finally, I’ll take a stencil brush and Ranger Archival Ink (Black) and add some color around the edges. Seal your piece with DecoArt Sealer (Gloss) and remove your painter’s tape.
