I decided it’s time to get back to something I truly love… writing! So, welcome to Tracy’s Toolbox—a space where I answer your questions, share some behind-the-scenes thoughts, and open up about my creative process. Feel free to ask me anything. Seriously—anything.
Let’s kick this off with a question I get quite a bit:
“Thank you for your free live demo… It would help me so much if you provided a photo in advance of what you’ll be painting on Wednesday, along with a supply list.”
Oh, how I would love to do that. And believe me, I’ve been asked this many times.
Here’s the thing: every single Wednesday, I go live for a free art demo on my Facebook and YouTube. It’s my way of giving back and encouraging creativity. But my #1 personal rule for this time is simple:
“Create from the space I am in.”
That means I don’t plan out the project in advance. No full supply lists. No step-by-step outlines. Just me, my brushes, and whatever medium calls to me that day.

Yes, I offer online workshops, pre-recorded classes, and even lesson plans—with full supply lists and photos—but Wednesdays are different. They’re free-flowing, spontaneous, and meant to inspire you to create with what you already have.
Sometimes, I’ll ask you what you’d like to see—watercolors or acrylics? Occasionally, I throw in a curveball like “what colors do you want me to use?” (shout out to my purple people who challenge me!). But most of the time, I just show up and paint from the heart.
I try to keep it to 30–45 minutes with no “magic oven” or pre-done step-outs. This is real-time creating—and yes, sometimes that includes literally watching paint dry. (And for the record, the comment “this is like watching paint dry” cracks me up every time. If you know me, you know sarcasm is my love language 😄).
I totally understand wanting to prep ahead—and that’s why I always recommend my membership group, Your Artful Journey, if you’re looking for more structured content. There, you get full materials lists, videos, detailed projects, and a creative community. Free art journal workshop HERE if you want to see a full workshop.
But Wednesday nights are different. That kind of planning every week would eat into the very thing I cherish most: unfiltered, joyful creativity. Writing a list beforehand would box me in—and art should be anything but that. The purpose of Wednesday nights are to inspire you to create with me.

Now, here’s a helpful tip:
✅ I do post supply lists and full project breakdowns afterward under my Free Tutorials section.
✅ These are usually up the following Tuesday.
✅ You can also sign up for my newsletter to get a heads-up when they’re posted!
Also new—I’m now offering the journal pages I create during the live demo for sale! Yep, I’ll paint the first page for you so you’re not staring at a blank one. Sometimes, all we need is that little nudge to begin. I love sending these out and helping others get started.
So for those who tune in each week—thank you. Whether you’re painting along or just watching and soaking in the inspiration, I’m so glad we share this colorful space together.
Let’s keep showing up.
Let’s keep creating.
And let’s remember that even 30 minutes of art can change the tone of your whole day.
See you next Wednesday!
