I am creating a floral watercolor art journal page with some colorful paints, stamps, and stencils! I’ll show you step-by-step how I made this mixed media art piece so you can recreate it in your own art journal. I’ll also show you how I add stamps and stencils to my watercolor art to create some fun texture and dimension.

I am using a 7×10 art journal and taping off the edges of my page with painter’s tape. I’m going to start by painting a flower with some yellow and orange watercolors. Then, I’ll add some green watercolor leaves around the petals. Let dry or dry with a heat gun.

Now, I’ll paint my background. I’m using blue watercolor on the bottom half and some pink and purple for the top half. Let dry or dry with a heat gun.

I’m going to grab my Molotow Blackliner pen and add some details. I’m going to outline my flower center and petals as well as my leaves. I’ll also add some details lines on the petals and leaves.

I’ll use some black acrylic paint and paint in my flower center. I’ll also add some white acrylic paint dots in the center using the end of my paintbrush. Let dry or dry with a heat gun.

Next, I’ll grab one of my textured dot stamps and add that to the background with some archival black ink. I’m also adding some lines with a stamp to the very top of my page. Finally, I’ll use my mini cubist stencil to add some squares. I’m using a very small amount of white acrylic paint with a stencil brush. I am pouncing it onto my page very faintly.

I’ll just go around the edge of my page with some archival ink on my stencil brush. Finally, I’ll grab a fan brush and my black acrylic paint mixed with water, and tap it over my page to create some splatters. I’m just doing this on the flower petals (I covered up the rest of my page.)
