I have a special treat today – Cindy, the owner and designer of Dare 2b Artzy, is here with me! Cindy and I met at a trade show, and a beautiful friendship was born out of that creative partnership. Cindy designs stamps, dies, scrapbook paper, and so much more. Her designs have always complemented my illustrations beautifully, making our collaboration something special. Let’s create a simple watercolor flower together using stamps and stencils!

Start by prepping your art journal page by taping off the edges with Painter’s Tape. Then, mist down your watercolor palette with water. I’ll be using one of my flower stamps as a focal point. Remember, watercolors follow the water, so I’ll wet the area first where I’m planning on adding the flower stamp and then drop in the colors, letting them naturally blend and create beautiful effects. I’m using lots of pinks, oranges, and purples. Dry with a heat tool. Next, I’ll add water to my background and drop in different shades of green. Dry again with a heat tool.

Next, I’ll take my Creative Escape flower stamp and add ink from a Dare 2b Artzy Totally Black ink pad. Press the stamp onto the flower area of your art piece.

Then, grab Molotow Blackliner pens to outline your flower and add more textures lines. Doodle on a flower stem and leaves.

Next, I’ll take a stencil with leaf shapes and add teal ink to the bottom part of my background using a stencil brush. I’ll also use a stencil with dots to add some blue ink to the top area of my background.

I’ll use a white Sharpie marker to add texture lines to my flower. Finally, I’ll use a fan brush and some dark green watercolor paint to add a splatter effect to my art piece. Dry with a heat tool and remove your painter’s tape.
